SUP-free (Single-Use Plastic free) status means that the cup is not subject to the additional taxes and environmental fees that apply in most EU countries to disposable products containing PE film. Why choose a SUP-free paper cup?

Since 2021, the Single-Use Plastics Directive (2019/904) has been in force in the European Union, setting restrictions and taxes on products with single-use plastic components. Traditional paper cups contain a thin layer of polyethylene (PE) film on the inner surface, which technically makes them a “single-use plastic product” and subjects them to the requirements of the SUP Directive — including additional taxes, mandatory labelling and restrictions at the point of sale.

A paper cup with a water-based dispersion coating does not contain PE plastic — its inner surface is coated with a water-based emulsion that ensures liquid-tightness while being biodegradable and not falling under the SUP Directive. This product is supplied with a manufacturer’s pre-printed “BEER” design and is not available as a neutral (unprinted) variant. Custom logo printing is not offered for this product.
