Bamboo grows faster than most tree species, requires no fertilisers or pesticides, and binds carbon dioxide during growth. After use, bamboo chopsticks are biodegradable and can be disposed of together with food waste or placed in compost.
The standard length of 21 cm and thickness of 4,5 mm meets the industrial norm for sushi chopsticks — the chopsticks are long enough for comfortable grip and rigid enough to hold pieces of sushi firmly, even with greasier food (such as tempura).
